What’s wrong with people these days?

It seems like stories like this are all too familiar these days…  What’s wrong with people?

Fathers, mothers, and caregivers just “toss” their children and babies into rivers and streams like they’re yesterday’s trash.  I wonder how many of these stories are actually reported in a month or year (they seem way to common if you ask me) and why have we, unfortunately, become “numb” to them?   What does that say about us as a society?   Where is the outrage?   Why aren’t we mad as hell?

I understand that some are in desperate times…   Many of us are unemployed and our futures are uncertain, but why are our children the ones who are made to suffer?   Perhaps some of the conflict lies in our general attitude that children (and others) are secondary — to ourselves; that very thinking is why abortion was legalized in this country.   Very sad — very sad indeed!   When will we realize it’s NOT “all about me/us” and our conveniences?

Children are a gift from God.   I wonder how many children have been brutally abused and/or killed who may have been our future doctors — doctors who may be able to cure the incurable diseases which plague us now?   I wonder how many of these unwanted and unappreciated children might have been our future leaders who were sent here to help us in these tumultuous and turbulent times?

Many in our country are just waiting to adopt children (They want to provide a loving home to these children who truly deserve a happy life) and many states have laws which protect parents and caregivers from prosecution for abandonment (safe haven laws), so why do headlines of children being thrown off bridges continue to plague our news?   There is just no excuse for this kind of behavior.   Absolutely none.
