I was very disheartened to see a recent commercial on t.v. suggesting that the 12th Congressional District Republican nominee, Tim Burns, is advocating a national sales tax. Friends, this is simply NOT TRUE!
Even though I’m a devout Conservative, I always try to give others the benefit of doubt. I also evaluate the issues, first, before making a decision about how I will vote since I think it’s very irresponsible to just vote straight down a party line because “you’re a Democrat or Republican.” Friends, the 12th District Congressional race is becoming more of the same dishonest rhetoric we are experiencing right now in Washington. Tim Burns’ opponent is falsifying Tim’s stand on key issues, and it is very evident that we’re in for “more of the same” if another Democrat retains this very important seat.
Tim Burns has NEVER supported a national sales tax. Nowhere in his speeches will you find a sound byte or written statement promoting this idea. Tim HAS SAID that he would carefully consider a FLAT TAX for Americans (to replace our existing tax system), but he also has cautioned that this revolutionary idea would need much contemplation and planning (and should not be rushed into).
Friends, while the attack ads continue (and they will), please test everything before making a decision. Tim Burns says what he means, and means what he says. He’s the real deal, folks! Tim Burns will never intentionally misrepresent the facts (like his opposition has). This is exactly the reason we need Tim Burns for our district; he wants to go to Congress to bring INTEGRITY back to Washington and the offices held by our elected officials.
Furthermore, Tim Burns wants to utilize the coal and mining industries of western PA to both promote jobs and to help our nation with its energy needs. He also wants to stop the out-of-control spending in Washington so we can responsibly budget our resources for our future generations. Lastly, Tim Burns is a social conservative who understands the importance of protecting the unborn and who values his right to own a gun (as promised in our Constitution). If you, too, value these key issues, VOTE FOR TIM BURNS. It truly isn’t about his political affiliation or title, friends (We need to get beyond this here in western PA.). This is OUR TIME to shine and to tell Washington (and the country) who WE TRULY ARE: We are SMART, ENGAGED, and we HAVE INTEGRITY.
Now, more than ever, we truly have the power to be heard, to make a difference, and to be ADVOCATES OF CHANGE. Do not let this opportunity pass you by! Vote for Tim Burns on May 18th!
Thanks so much for your Conservative Blog.

life. People are not concerned enough. Wait until they have to choice then they will all start crying.
Keep up the good work. I will have to make myself a blog page pretty soon. Try to dl all I can to endorse these candidiates in other states. We have a great one here
in Tn. Van Irions. He has started a Class Action law suir against Pelosi, Reid Obama. Everyone throughout the USA can sign this lawsuit. He now has sigantures
in every state. Over 27,000 have signed so far.
He has a FB site where you put in his name Van Irion and you can read about the law suit. He has been on Greta Sustern and Judge Napolitana.
Michelle Bachman , Ron Paul have personally endorsed him. A very constitutional conservative. Sign his lawsuit and help get the word out through out this

Thanks, Mary, for your support. We still have much to do TOGETHER, friend! Keep up the good work.
I do want to clarify your understanding of his position on taxes:
First, he has said (as you indicate) that implementation of any changes would be difficult and need to be thoroughly researched before embarking – so it isn’t something he would/could do right away.
Second, he supports ELIMINATING income taxes – individual and corporate – with all of the loopholes, write offs, incentives for outsourcing, etc. This by itself will reduce the cost of merchandise (some estimate by 34%), since all corporate taxes are passed on to the consumer in higher costs. And it increases the take-home pay of every worker.
Third he proposes replacing the taxes with a FAIR tax (not FLAT tax). What Fair tax means is that there is a percent added at market – a sort of sales tax, so to speak. Tax would only be paid at times of purchase: This way, savings and investment are encouraged – no dividend/interest taxes, etc. Taxes are paid with purchases.
Of course, those with more income make more purchases, and their “fair share” of taxes will be paid accordingly. With fewer penalties for dividends, there will be more investment and growth, more savings, more jobs, less need for moving a company in order to find lower tax structures, . . . Companies that do move overseas and get “tax breaks for outsourcing” would still have to pay for purchases, and those who purchase those goods would pay taxes at time of sale. Illegal aliens couldn’t avoid taxes – unless they avoid purchasing. There is a proposed “rebate” equivalent to the necessity purchases (food, clothing, etc.) for the year. Illegals will have to be registered to get this refund. It would be sort of what the the individual deduction is on income taxes (only higher). It’s a situation where the consumer, the producer, the employee, and the government all win.
The problem, everyone agrees is how to institute this process. We recognize that at first, we would be making taxable purchases with already-taxed income, so it would have to be phased in somehow. That is why Mr. Burns isn’t campaigning with this as his agenda. He recognizes the difficulty of the entire process and wouldn’t push for a bill to be passed “right now” as the bail-out bill, and healthcare bills were done, even before they were read.
One more thing I forgot to mention: this IS NOT a VAT (value added tax), which is in addition to the taxes already in place. This is a replacement for income tax, and thus a FAIR tax.
Thanks, Diana, for the clarifications and taking the time to respond. We need to make sure this information is available to ALL VOTERS. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for a very clear and helpful post. I am definitely a violator of many of these rules. I often find myself conflicted when writing a blog post because I see myself writing more than people want to read, but I feel that I have to do the subject matter justice by thoroughly covering it. I feel that by following some of these rules I end up cutting out important aspects to the discussion. I guess you have to find a balance.
I am really satisfied with this posting that you have given us. This is really a stupendous work done by you.
