Cabin fever

Well, my kids are home from school yet again and we have a severe case of “cabin fever” here.   The snow has stopped falling (thankfully) but it’s still blowing around a good bit.

Between watching CSI: Vegas re-runs and the occasional taunting and teasing of the kids with each other, I think we’re all at a delicate breaking point… I’m hoping that we can run out soon to the store and just get out of here!  We’re waiting for the plow to come around again and I’ll have to venture outside to dig out my van and warm it up (something I’m not looking forward to)…

In a CSI autopsy scene featuring Dr. Al, Grissom, and Greg Sanders (a lab technician who desires to become a CSI), Greg witnesses his first autopsy and despite claiming that he’s “not going to be sick,” he is apparently moved by the scene of a dead human body.   Later while talking with CSI Sara, Greg recalls a comment that Dr. Al made to him during the autopsy –”This is all we are after death” (referring to the decaying body).   Sensing Greg’s dismay, Sara quickly reminds Greg that “It’s WHAT YOU DO with your life that counts.”   What a powerful statement!   I wonder how many of us just go through the motions of life without a real sense of purpose?   Are we doing what we’re called to do?  Do we know our calling and purpose?   Are we happy and feeling fulfilled?  How have our lives impacted others?  Do we know where we’re going after death?  What will be said of our lives when our bodies are decayed and gone? Hmm…
