Well, this isn’t a big surprise, but today, I read about Mr. Critz’s new escapades in securing $11 million dollars in earmarks for our 12th congressional district. This is like a bad song on repeat! STOP already, please!
The earmarks will likely only benefit a few here, again, but I’m sure we’ll have a new scholarship program or building named after Mr. Critz now, too.
When are we going to finally put a stop to this? When are we going to start holding our politicians accountable in CREATING good-paying jobs for the long-term? Why aren’t we planning for our future — and the future of our children and grandchildren? Our politicians these days think throwing money at the problem is the solution (both locally and nationally), but in reality, money is just a temporary band-aid. Until we truly start addressing the underlying conditions, we can never truly heal. Why aren’t our elected officials trying to problem-solve? Oh, I know why. That’s WORK. If politicians have the means to throw money at the problem, it sure does take a lot of pressure off of their shoulders, right? It gives the appearance they are doing something “good,” too. It’s all smoke and mirrors, friends, and it’s about CONTROL, unfortunately. Money IS POWER, right?
As we inch closer to November’s mid-term elections, don’t be fooled by those who try to cloud the true issues. Don’t be fooled by those who personally attack others, and don’t be fooled by those with “big names” and “big money” who back one candidate over another. Don’t listen to “some” news outlets; research what THEY ALL are saying so you can be the most informed in your decisions this November. Lastly (and perhaps most importantly), talk to your family members, friends, and acquaintances who are unemployed (or under-employed) here in the 12th congressional district; ASK THEM how they feel about more pork… Ask them if they feel another building (or airport) named after a politician here is the answer FOR THEM and if it will HELP THEM to provide for their families.
STOP. We need a new song (something fresh and energetic)… We need a new UPBEAT song FOR EVERYONE (and not just the special few here). It’s time for “Burn(s) It Up” by Tim Burns — coming to a store near year this November!
